By mid-2024, the platform's Atropos Evidence Network had grown to over 300 million patient records, the largest federated healthcare data network in the industry. A $33 million Series B closed in May 2024, backed by McKesson Ventures, Merck Global Health Innovation Fund, Cencora Ventures, Breyer Capital, and Emerson Collective.
The momentum was real. But Atropos had never had a CTO. Bringing In a Google-Scale Engineer to Lead the Next Chapter
Christian & Timbers placed Sylvia Isler as Atropos Health's first-ever Chief Technology Officer in February 2026.
Sylvia is a seasoned engineering leader with 27 years of experience building production-grade infrastructure at scale. Most recently, she served as Director of Engineering for Search Infrastructure at Google, leading a 50-engineer team rearchitecting the infrastructure behind Google Search. Prior to Google, she was SVP and Head of Engineering at Better Life Partners, where she led cloud architecture, DevOps, IT, and cybersecurity for a proprietary healthcare delivery platform, and VP of Engineering at Cityblock Health, an Alphabet-backed value-based care company. She holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Massachusetts Lowell, with graduate work at the University of Pennsylvania.
Sylvia brought to Atropos a rare combination: distributed systems expertise at Google-scale and direct experience building secure, compliant engineering infrastructure in healthcare.
