The Role
The Physical AI & Robotics Lead will define and lead the firm's position in Autonomous Systems Engineering, designing and deploying robotic fleets, agentic architectures, and autonomous agents at scale. The mandate spans Physical AI and Robotics, digital twin simulation, AI-driven manufacturing, and autonomous systems.
The appointment adds Dr. Cheng's large-scale robotics and automation experience to Accenture's work in Physical AI.
The Candidate
Dr. Hui Cheng brings deep experience across Physical AI, Robotics, Computer Vision, autonomous systems, and edge AI, with a track record of building and managing global R&D organizations.
Most recently, he served as Head of Coupang Robotics and Automation, where he led the development of fulfillment technologies spanning AI, robotics, Computer Vision, and WMS/WES/WCS, with teams in South Korea, the U.S., and China.
Prior to Coupang, Dr. Cheng served as Corporate Vice President and Chief Scientist at Seedland Group, where he worked across technology strategy, product development, AI, machine learning, Computer Vision, and robotics. Earlier, he led JD-X RDC at JD.com and served as a board member of Kindred AI.
His technical expertise spans autonomous driving, AGVs, drone systems, robotic manipulation, sensor technology, and AR/VR/MR. He has more than 60 publications and 50 granted U.S. patents and has been invited to speak at the World Economic Forum on Africa, AI-Summit, World Summit AI, NRF, ShopTalk, and CNBC East Tech West.
He holds advanced credentials from Purdue University.
